"All that non-fiction can do is answer questions. It's fiction's business to ask them."

I'm a Canadian writer living in Ottawa, Canada's capital city, with its many amazing accessible libraries and easily traversable parklands. Generally, when at home, I can be found with pen or book in hand (or composing in my mind). My first drafts are always in longhand.

My short fiction and feature articles appear in numerous print magazines and webzines. From time to time, I also "write for hire" for popular collections and anthologies. This means I agree to write without a byline in exchange for adequate and timely compensation.

I have had published four non-fiction paperbacks (history, crime, biography) and one crime fiction ebook, and served as contributing editor for a bestselling travel book. I have commitments and proposals on the go for more of the same.

A ghostwritten full-length memoir with an "as told to" type of byline is slated for a summer 2009 release.

The  links at the top of this column will take you to selections from my published work since 2000, the year I left my "day job" and started writing full-time. Happily, I've never looked back.
